Kitchen Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I consider resurfacing rather than replacement?

  • Much lower cost, Quicker, Convenient, One trade on site, No need to tear out items, Less mess and inconvenience.
  • Cost Saving – Resurfacing will save up to 70% vs. replacement
  • Less Inconvenience – to replace something you must first tear out the old items. When considering the cost of replacement you must consider tear out, cost of replacement item, labour for installation, not to mention the mess and time it will take. When compared to the inconvenience of tearing out plumbing, ripping up floors and demolishing walls, the inconvenience when resurfacing is almost nonexistent.

Will my refinished surface look painted??

  • Definitely not. You probably will not be able to tell the difference. All coatings are applied by a high performance finishing gun. Refinishing will make that old chipped, stained, or colour-dated item look “New” again.?
  • Our resurfacing system works beautifully on: kitchen benchtops, cupboards, cabinets, ceramic tiles, bathtubs, sinks, shower enclosures, vanity units and clawfoot bathtubs.?

Is it durable and how long will it last?

  • Our coatings are designed for their intended use and have been tried and tested worldwide for over twenty years. A bathroom or kitchen area that has been resurfaced should easily last 10 to 15 years or longer with proper care and maintenance.

How long before I can use my refinished surface?

  • The refinished surface is normally ready for use again in just 24 hours.

Are there any odours from the process?

  • Yes, there are odours, but we minimize by using an exhaust fan to quickly dissipate the odours.

When doing a tile job, what happens to the grout?

  • Because the grout is porous it absorbs everything and eventually grows mould, discolours and looks dirty. Before resurfacing we thoroughly clean, then re-grout to fill all pores, then we coat and resurface. It will still retain the look of grout but because it is sealed it will no longer hold dirt, it will wipe clean with a mild liquid cleaner.

How do I clean my refinished surface?

  • As with all porcelain, laminated and enamel type surfaces, you should use only liquid cleaners that do not contain abrasives, bleach or chlorine.

What if the surface is damaged?

  • Small chips and cracks can usually be repaired during the preparation stage of the refinishing process. Often if it is a single chip we can fill and refinish just the damaged area. With careful matching the repaired chip will be practically invisible.

How much will it cost?

  • Prices vary depending on the condition of the surface, but refinishing will always be a fraction of what replacement will cost.

Do you offer a guarantee?

  • We offer a two year guarantee against peeling, failure of adhesion or colour fading.

Why should I choose your company over other resurfacers?

  • Quality Product – We use the most technically advanced coating in the world today. Modified aliphatic polyurethane provides amazing resilience to cracking during expansion and contraction due to temperature fluctuations. Unlike epoxy topcoats, Poly-Glass will not crack or yellow over time. Poly-Glass resin provides a surface that is harder than acrylic or enamel, yet flexible enough to withstand the impact of dropped objects. This resilience is essential to its durability and long wear. It also provides terrific stain resistance and colour retention, as compared to other types of bathtub coatings. Be careful of inferior products that will fade and peel
